Young Limpopo professionals to meet at business seminar

Limpopo Young Professionals Network (LYPN), founded initially in Johannesburg by group of young professionals from Limpopo, will host its first seminar in Meropa Casino, Polokwane, on Saturday 5 November 2011. It has teamed up with corporates Old Mutual, iWYZE, Mangwanani Spa and Greys Personnel (Polokwane) to host a successful seminar, which is set to ignite positive attitude from young professionals.

Through its network, young professionals gather on regular basis and interact with captains of industries in order to unleash their own full potential and make a mark in their respective fields. Experts on career advancement strategies and entrepreneurship development are invited to share knowledge and experience with these young professionals.

"We all recognize that entrepreneurship is important for economic and social development in South Africa. Through innovation, entrepreneurs create new, competitive markets and businesses which lead to job creation and have a multiplying effect on the economy," Says Goodman Chauke, a founding member.

Young professionals, between the ages of 21 and 40 should be given necessary support in order to successfully turn the economy of this country. It has been observed that this age group has the highest levels of educational attainment, is most likely to be involved in entrepreneurial activities, and its initiatives have technological advantage.

Need to consider future

Considering these trends, there is a need to create a platform where young professionals share ideas, provide access for support from corporate companies and development agencies and connect with influential, successful people. Such a platform should ignite entrepreneurship and instil culture of hard work among young professionals in their respective careers. Young professionals should be treated as critical assets in economic development strategy of South Africa.

As important segment of the economy, this age group needs to be nurtured so it does not fall for immediate pleasures and become trapped in debts and unsustainable lifestyles. Young professionals, generally have buying power and are credit worthy, so many indulge in immediate benefits and forget to invest in their future. There are few young professionals with long-term investments such as educational plans for their kids. LYPN plans to engage young professionals from personal development to entrepreneurship support.
