New HASA director-general appointed
The Hospital Association of South Africa (HASA), which represents over 94% of the country's private hospitals, has announced the appointment of Dr Malebona Precious Matsoso as director-general for the National Department of Health.
HASA CEO, Advocate Kurt Worrall-Clare, says Dr Matsoso's international experience and previous tenure with the World Health Organisation (WHO) bodes well for the country. "HASA is optimistic that Dr Matsoso's appointment will bring about a deeper commitment to bridging the divide between the public and private healthcare sectors," he says.
"We look forward to interacting with Dr Matsoso on a regular basis and to partnering with the Department of Health as we seek to find viable solutions to the country's healthcare challenges.
"HASA wishes Dr Matsoso everything of the best with her appointment and ensures her of the private hospital sector's support," says Worrall-Clare.
