Pep recalls faulty mini ovens

Pep has become aware of a possible quality problem with a batch of Hisense mini ovens. Sales of the product have been suspended immediately and, as a precaution, the retailer is recalling any ovens bought or collected from one of its store after 24 December 2008.

Anyone who bought and collected one of these ovens after 24 December 2008 is urged, firstly, not to continue using the oven and secondly, to return it to their nearest Pep store where they will be given a full refund.

This is the first time in its history that Pep has had to recall any product it sells.

“Hisense is a well known brand and has been a reliable supplier,” says Pep communication manager, Mariki Schwiebus. “Hisense is currently investigating the problem and we will keep our customers informed of the outcome of this investigation.”

All Hisense products sold through the store have the SABS mark and Pep will involve the SABS in its investigation.

“Pep regrets any inconvenience caused to its customers,” adds Schwiebus. “We would also like to assure them that our commitment to - and confidence in - the quality of the products we sell remains unchanged - as exemplified by our ‘money back guarantee' offering.”
