Johannesburg online and in front
The Johannesburg Tourism Company (JTC) has been awarded a 5-Star SA Web Award for the content and design of their new website launched at the beginning of the year. The JTC website, www.joburgtourism.com, is a comprehensive source of information about the Johannesburg Tourism Company and its initiatives as well as Johannesburg itself.
The JTC's website was submitted by designers Firewater Interactive to SA Web Awards and evaluated according to four categories: content, layout, functionality and overall appeal. In order to win a SA Web Award, a website must score at least 80% in every category.
Visitors to the website can expect to find information on tourist facilities around the city, upcoming events and exhibitions, tours and attractions, accommodation, transport, a virtual orientation centre, live data feeds - weather and foreign exchange rates, quick facts and polls.
Since going live, the JTC has enjoyed over half a million hits to their website. The percentage of overseas visitors is 63.44%, a total of 9.19% were South African visitors and 27.35% were from unknown origins.
