The grapes were selected from terroir-specific vineyards situated in Lutzville, Darling, Stellenbosch, Cape Agulhas and Elgin to capture as much varietal character as possible through the diverse vineyard sites ensuring a fresh yet full-bodied Sauvignon blanc. In the cellar, instead of filtering the wine, more traditional hands-on winemaking practices such as settling, racking and fining were used to preserve all the delicate Sauvignon Blanc flavours.
Winemaker Pieter Badenhorst describes this wine as a beautifully balanced Sauvignon Blanc showing both herbaceous and tropical fruit flavours with a smooth and extremely elegant finish. On the nose the vintage shows aromas of gooseberry and fig leaves with asparagus and herbaceous nuances and just a touch of delicate tropical fruit.
Fleur du Cap Unfiltered Sauvignon Blanc 2008 retails at around R75 per bottle.
