Five bursaries from Growthpoint

Growthpoint Properties has awarded bursaries to five university students to study towards a career in South Africa's property industry. They are Lebogang Mangwale and Cheyeza Mkhabele - BSc Property Studies; Malcolm Mbatha - Building Science Diploma; Catherine Kirkwood - fourth year BComm Business Management; and Yongama Mabece - Diploma in Real Estate.

Selections were based on academic potential, following a national advertising campaign where students were invited to apply.

“The need for this bursary programme is clearly evident in the positive response and applications it has received from a high calibre of students,” says Norbert Sasse, CEO of Growthpoint Properties Limited. “The programme provides practical work experience as bursary recipients will work at the company and gain valuable hands-on experience and mentorship as an extension of the bursary.

With a strong focus on education and skills, the company supports a substantial number of initiatives supporting education from pre-primary to tertiary levels, proficiency training, empowerment and the advancement of entrepreneurship. The company is also an active participant in education initiatives undertaken by industry representative bodies such as SAPOA (South African Property Owners Association) and the Women's Property Network (WPN).
