Training New business South Africa

SMME free management seminars are back

Nedbank Small Business Services will tour its successful Small Business Management seminars around South Africa from 12 - 29 October 2009. Entrance is free to small business owners seeking the practical advice and knowledge of the speakers.

Speakers include is Michael Said, who will speak on 'How to sell more, to more people, more often and more effectively'. Through this topic, he will cover marketing principles made relevant through practical hints, tips and exercises from which small business owners will benefit. Thayn Niemand, who has been hosting the seminars for five years and has shared invaluable information with the attendees, will be advising the audience on 'What affects profitability in their business'.

According to research findings on the 'Impact of the recession on small business' published in the Financial Mail in August 2009, the current recession in South Africa has seen business failure rise 33.8% in July, following a 33.5% increase in June highlighting the strain the recession has placed on companies, particularly the small business sector. Although small businesses have been hit by the tumultuous economic climate, they have proven to be remarkably more resilient than large businesses.

“Taking these findings into consideration, we are pleased that we have been able to play our part to help small businesses stay on top of their game as the topics discussed are relevant and advance their business skills,” says Sibongiseni Ngundze, managing executive of Nedbank Small Business Services.
