Dragon assists second language users

Dragon NaturallySpeaking, Speak & See, assists those with upper body mobility and literacy problems, or those unable to type well through its speech recognition software.

The product has four different tools in one software package and offers help to anyone struggling with dyslexia or reading difficulties, using English as a second language, wanting to learn a foreign language or suffering from sight loss or limited vision. It is available from the retail division of local specialist distributor Workgroup.

  • Reading and writing support toolbar makes text more accessible, by converting it to speech as it is being read or written and delivering it in a human-like voice.
  • Screen magnifier and reader magnifies the screen or selected area by up to six times for visually impaired users and includes full speech feedback
  • Reader Ruler offers a highlighting and magnifying within which items can be magnified and have their contrast changed - useful for users with dyslexia or attention deficit disorder
  • Colour overlay changes colour of screen overlay and varies level of tint to provide clearer view
  • Language learning assistant - assists in pronunciations and meanings and includes bilingual dictionaries.
