Global PR network meeting in Poland

The Worldcom Public Relations Group, a global network of independently-owned public relations counselling firms, began its its regional meeting for Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) member agencies in Warsaw, Poland, today, 15 September 2006, to end on 17 September. The group is represented in South Africa by BlackRock Worldcom, whose group MD Merle O'Brien is attending the meeting

"I'm delighted to be able to chair this year's meeting in Warsaw," says Diego Biasi, chairman of Worldcom's EMEA board. "Meetings of this type provide Worldcom partner agencies with an excellent opportunity to get together and share client and business experiences, as well as exchange views on key trends within the PR and marketing industry.

"Strengthening our capacity to collaborate on a regional level is especially important at a time in which the role of Europe is growing both on an economic and political basis. To this end, our goal is to identify or improve on existing best practices for the various sectors in which our clients operate by adopting an approach that takes into account the multifaceted nature of European culture and the expectations of global clients.

Biasi also feels it is essential to get together occasionally to better serve their shared clients, co-ordinate their European activities, and to network and have fun with like-minded people.

A regular Worldcom appointment that brings together 22 of the top agencies in the EMEA region, this year's meeting features two guest speakers. Additional highlights will include presentations from candidate agencies in Hungary, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia, as well as briefings on best practices and innovative PR concepts such as word-of-mouth marketing.

Juliusz Braun, director of the Film and Audiovisual Media Department at the Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage will talk about the media in Poland. David DeBenedetti, partner at DeBenedetti Majewski Szczesniak Attorneys-at-Law, one of Poland's leading boutique law firms specialising in securities and M&A transactions, will discuss the opportunities that exist for co-operation between law firms and PR agencies.

Worldcom PR Group EMEA Regional Meetings are held each year in a different city and country to enable members to visit and learn about a new market and local culture on a regular basis. Past meetings have recently been held in Munich, Helsinki and Paris. Glaubicz Garwolinska Consultants, one of Poland's best-known PR agencies specialising in corporate, financial and public affairs, is hosting this year's meeting.

In addition to organising the agenda of guest speakers and regional committee meetings, GGC has also arranged a grand tour of Warsaw and dinner in one of the leading restaurants located in the Old City.
