South Africans in Bushmills competition

Today, St Patrick's Day, is the launch of Make It 2 Bushmills that will see two South Africans being flown to the Old Bushmills Distillery in Northern Ireland to compete with ten other countries in an international competition called 'Bushcamp'. Entries close at 11.59pm GMT on Sunday 17 April 2011.

Launched by Colum Egan, master distiller, he is offering two friends the chance to work alongside him for two weeks, to learn the skills of whiskey-making that have been alive and well in the Bushmills area for over 400 years, after which he will pack up the best bits of the distillery to go on tour in the winners' home country.

Samantha Reader, global brand director said, "We're really excited about the opportunities that this competition will offer trade and consumers.

"Irish Whiskey is the fastest growing international spirits category and this is a great chance to make the most of that momentum and drive brand awareness for the brand. The campaign, which will be supported by a range of POS materials, will give the trade great opportunities to drive footfall, conversations with consumers and of course sales.

"When you combine the fantastic consumer incentive with a massive party in the winners' country I think it's fair to say that there will be a lot of noise around the brand this year."

Who would be the ideal candidates for the competition? "We're looking for real friends, with a genuine love for life and wicked sense of humour and I'm sure we'll find them," concludes Egan.
