Help Zack's celebrate anniversary; win a Stratocaster

Zack's group of restaurants in Durban is offering patrons the opportunity to win one of three custom-built Stratocaster guitars (built by A and R Guitars) worth R10 000 each as part of its 10-year anniversary celebration for the BluesTrain. The first draw will be on Freedom Day, 27 April 2010.

“During the course of 2010, we are giving away a green, an orange and a purple guitar - being the group's brand colours,” says Zack's owner John Humphreys. The guitars are crafted from imported hardwoods and are fitted with high-quality hardware and either Tonerider or Wilkinson pickups. Patrons to any of the groups' restaurants need only spend R300 or more and submit the till slip as an entry.

Muso competitions

Individual artists or bands will be selected from these the various restaurant's music nights to record one track, which has to be their original composition, on a fully sponsored branded compilation CD. The best band will win a slot in the 2010 Durban International Blues Festival, which will take place at the end of September, as well as a 5-track demo tape recording at Andiamo Productions. Entry fee is R50 per artist and R200 per band.

“A portion of the proceeds from sales of this CD will go to the CD publisher with the largest amount being divided amongst the artists featured on the compilation. The group does not intend making money from the sales, rather we see this as an added opportunity to provide another vehicle to assist our artists,” concludes Humphreys.
