Nampak Denver receives ISO certification

The Nampak Cartons & Labels Gauteng (Denver) plant joins other plants in the group in receiving the ISO 22000 food safety certification, establishing the company as one of South Africa's cleanest and therefore safest producers of lithographic and gravure printed folding cartons for the Food packaging market.

As a precondition for receiving and ultimately retaining ISO 22000, organisations are required to establish, implement and maintain additional prerequisite programmes. The company has also implemented the internationally recognised PAS (Publicly Available Specification) standard to set out and meet ISO's specific food safety requirements, as well as assist in controlling food safety hazards.

In achieving the accreditation, it had to address many key issues, from the construction and layout of the plant's buildings, training over 254 staff members on the importance of and procedures for food safety, personal hygiene and the management of raw materials.
