The International Excellence in Retail Financial Services awards programme has become the international benchmark for the performance of the best retail banks since 2001. For 2010, more than 150 retail financial institutions from 29 countries were assessed in Asia Pacific, Central Asia and the Middle East, as well as Africa for the first time.
In its evaluation, the panel of judges found that consumer banking has come under significant pressure and that many of the orthodox approaches that banks have relied on in the past for their business success, may have to undergo rethinking.
