Perdeberg Winery gallops away with prizes

The results of the Paarl and National Young Wine Show 2010, announced on 19 August 2010, saw Perdeberg Winery do well winning 5 gold, 14 silver and 10 bronze medals for its selected wines, out of 20 entries. It also won the Sarel Rossouw Trophy for the five highest scoring wines in the Paarl-region competition, the Champion Chenin Blanc, as well as Champion Other Wood Matured Red - for its Petit Verdot in the Paarl region's leg of the competition.

Nationally, the winery performed equally well, taking the Stephan Smit Trophy for National Champion Other Wood Matured Red (with the Petit Verdot) and two class winners, Mouvedre (unwooded) and Petit Verdot (wooded).

"Trophies are great but what is equally satisfying is the fact that the winery has for two years running achieved near perfect results on all wines entered in the Young Wine Shows. In 2009, we had the second most gold medals of all participants. This is a testimony that not only can we make exceptional trophy winners but overall our quality is excellent," says Gerhard van der Watt, CEO of Perdeberg.
