Nederburg's auction selection draw card

Razvan Macici, the cellarmaster of Nederburg since 2001, has produced the 2004 and 2005 vintages of Edelkeur, both graceful, vibrant wines with lively notes of apricot, honey and citrus, to keep company with Gunter Brözel's 1977 vintage of this signature dessert wine.

They will all come under the hammer of Bonham's auctioneer Anthony Barne on the first Saturday in September at Nederburg, together with the 2003 Eminence, another dessert wine from Nederburg; Macici's maiden Private Bin S316 Weisser Riesling Noble Late Harvest of 2001; and his 2002 Semillon Noble Late Harvest.

Reds on offer

This year's auction also offers several reds from his first vintage at Nederburg, including the Private Bin R172 Pinotage; the Private Bin Petit Verdot; the Private Bin R121 Shiraz; and the Private Bin R181 Merlot.

Port collectors

Collectors will also be pleased to learn that Brözel's only port made at Nederburg, now 46 years old, is still in outstanding condition with a rich and silky texture and available for sale, with each bottle individually numbered and sealed with a coat of wax.

Details can be found on www.nederburgauction.co.za from July.
