Star readers vote for Jack's Paint

The Your Choice supplement, published on 30 November 2009, gave readers the opportunity to vote for their favourite business or establishment. There were three main categories, best service and shopping, best food, drink and entertainment as well as the best places and things.

"We are very excited and proud to be voted for the 5th year in a row and I am very proud of my store owners, for without their passion and desire to look after customers, we wouldn't have won this,” comments Gerhard Waldauer, MD of Jack's Paint.

Jack's Paint is one of South Africa's top three paint and hardware brands and said to be the country's leading independent paint retail group in terms of paint sales. It operates 60 owner-run stores and franchises across the country on a business model founded on good, old-fashioned customer service and the strength of family values.

Martin Cohen, Group CEO of Jack's Paint visits as many stores as possible every day, encourages an open door policy and personally deals with every customer complaint. "My cellphone is on 24 hours a day and anyone from staff to customers can call me. We have no hierarchy within this organisation; there are no egos involved and everybody is treated with the same respect. Our customers are not just numbers to us. I believe in old-school customer values and want that to come through when we deal with our customers," he says.
