Tumi Light duffel

Launching in June 2009, Tumi Light will be offered in both Alpha and Voyageur collections.

The Alpha range uses virtually abrasive-resistant FXT ballistic nylon fabric and is constructed from a flexible frame that maintains shape without adding weight. Said to be 40% lighter than similar designs, these bags offer an ideal solution to minimise or eliminate extra baggage fees. The flexible construction allows for a compact fit into overhead compartments.

Packing cases feature sturdy, lightweight aircraft-grade aluminium handle systems and in-line skate wheels. The initial launch of Tumi Light Alpha will feature two styles, with additional styles in development.

The International carry-on duffel features a garment cover with suiter compartment, adjustable tie down straps, a front U-zip pocket, and is available in black, for R8,499.

The International carry-on features zippered expansion and is available in black, brown and red, for R7,699.

Both cases weigh approximately 3.2 kilograms.

The Voyageur collection, with its more streamlined silhouettes and softer lines, will feature one style of Tumi Light. The Avignon International 20-inch carry-on case features the new lightweight design that's said to make it 25% lighter than the traditional models.

Combining durable materials, including lightweight nylon, and newly re-designed structures, the piece weighs in at 3kg. Colour ranges from classic black, brown and red to more fashionable options that rotate each season. The first seasonal colours will be eggplant purple and a python print.

Tumi Light also participates in the Tracer Program, a security system to prevent lost or stolen luggage.
