"Electrical timers, urgently fitted on 200 prime freeway and major arterial sites in Gauteng, is the first in a series of actions we are rolling out to reduce consumption, while still offering advertisers value for their adspend," says S'khumbuzo Nkosi, Primedia Outdoor's CEO.
"As a corporate member of the community, we have obligations to the man on the street and must do our share and more, to reduce consumption!"
The company brainstormed in-house, with advisors, and a significant outcome was to contract electrical engineers who will be involved in the development of all of the company's new sites from the outset. "Our overall goal is to ensure that our billboard media platforms use minimal power," he adds.
