Land Rover says 'tata ma' sales

Land Rover sees sales fall by 18% worldwide this year and by 12% in Germany.

Land Rover, a unit of the Indian group Tata, saw sales fall by 18% worldwide this year and by 12% in Germany, the head of its German operations said in a press report to appear on Tuesday.

"For 2008, I'm expecting 7,200 new registrations after 8,178 in the previous year," the German magazine Auto, Motor and Sport quoted Jeffrey Scott, head of the German unit, as saying in comments released ahead of their publication.

He added that Land Rover would sell around 185,000 vehicles worldwide in 2008, down from 226,395 the previous year.

Scott declined to give a detailed outlook for 2009, but did say he expected unit sales for both the Jaguar and Land Rover brands to be lower next year than in 2008.
