A revolution in advertising sales goes live today

The Financial Mail is doing something different – auctioning off advertising space in one of its printed supplements. The product is a new FM annual: 100 Websites to Save You Time and Money. It is due to be published in August and will present a selection of useful websites that simplify readers' lives, based on a survey of frequent Internet users.

To put the FM in the same league as those we will be covering in the annual, today the magazine launches a website to auction off the advertising space in the print publication. Inspired by online auction sites such as eBay, the website allows bidders to select a space in the supplement and bid for it.

Online auctions are the most efficient and competitive marketplaces and the FM100websites auction site will be a true reflection of advertiser demand for the space.

It is the first time in SA that a magazine has sold advertising space through a live online auction. See it in action at www.fm.co.za/fm100websites.
