The challenges technology poses

Technology is great, social media is great, lightning-fast communication is great, but...

Technology continues to grow at an incredible rate nowadays and to be interconnected, whether by cellphones, computers, or any other device, means more people are getting involved all the time. Today, being aware of everything or knowing about other people life is deemed by many to be virtually a matter of life or death.

Media has a diversity of platforms in order to deliver information evermore quickly and efficiently. A click or touch means you can be wherever you want, whenever you want, with whomever you want.

Friendships built on face-to-face meetings are changing to online chat ... not because human beings do not enjoy been in the company of each other anymore, but rather because of the reality of globalisation. The consequences of this trend bring benefits but also harm if it is not been balanced properly, and that includes the fact that more and more people are becoming addicted the new social life style.

The quality of personal conversation is being put at risk because it cannot compete with the advances that the new social life offers and it is taking away the ability of some people to be as spontaneous and as outgoing as before.

Technology certainly opens doors to accessing the world without actually being "on the spot" in person, and consequently that has accelerated business. Children and specially young people who are part of that generation need to be taught the value of having a good personal communication with their friends and family without any sort of technology nearby and still find joy and happiness in life before they get into a world where loneliness will be become their permanent companion.
