Radio's inactive...and Blade's blunt

NEWSWATCH: It's taken a week of threats, claims and confusion, but now independent auditors have found that some online radio listenership stats are "inflated", reports news24, and writing bluntly, Blade Nzimande says the media's misreporting the NEC conference, reports Politicsweb. Meanwhile, things might be getting hotter for TV presenter Vuyo Mbuli over those billboards, reports Mail & Guardian.

  • news24: Online radio stats proven fake... According to a report released by technology website MyBroadband, NetDynamix's listenership figures provided to online radio stations such as 2oceansvibe and Darren Scott's Ballz Visual Radio are incorrect. Shaun Dewberry, an IT specialist, made technological waves when he questioned the figures last week.
  • Politicsweb: The media's misreporting of the ANC policy conference - Nzimande... Blade Nzimande seems to be a bit miffed because he reckons some journalists have become "the mouthpiece of factionalists in our movement", so it seems like it could be a case of "So we're not talking to you anymore".
  • Mail & Guardian: Missing billboard bonanza behind municipality's Mbuli beef... If reports are to be believed, Vuyo Mbuli is no stranger to owing people and organisations money. So far he has escaped prison, but again, if the facts are as reported, he could end up behind bars. That's apparently where the Matlosana City Council would like to see him.
