Business of the Year competition goes national

The Sake business insert in Beeld, Die Burger and Volksblad has expanded its Business of the Year Competition, run in collaboration with Netstar and the Greater Johannesburg Business Chamber (GJBC), across South Africa's nine Provinces for the first time.

Charles Naudé, Sake Group Editor, says the success of the 2004 competition, which was limited to businesses in Beeld's distribution area, persuaded the Group to open the competition in 2005 to the Nation: "Sake is the only daily financial insert distributed in all nine Provinces and it is logical and desirable to accept entries from all South African firms and build the competition into a truly National event."

The competition aims to reward businesses that balance profit with sustainability and, as a business, impact on the quality of life of all stakeholders.

There are three categories for competitors: small businesses with annual turnover of
R12 million or less, medium-sized enterprises with turnover between R12 and R60 million and a large enterprise category turning over R60 million or more.

There will be one overall winner and winners in each category. PriceWaterhouseCoopers are the official competition auditors. Business leaders who wish to enter the competition should contact Amanda Hart at +27-11-642-1088, 082-455-9514 or via e-mail at .

The entrance fee for businesses, which includes tickets for two persons to attend the Awards Ceremony, is R1 000.
