    It's That SABC Show!

NEWSWATCH: Not long ago the SABC was given a bailout guarantee of R1.47 billion - and then spent more than R3.3 million on World Cup tickets. Now the broadcaster is back in the news after an un-named MP apparently claimed that the national broadcaster is in financial trouble again, because the Treasury is holding on to about R500 million of the bailout cash because it wants to know what the SABC is going to do with the money, reports IOL. Meanwhile, Mpumalanga premier David Mabuza is miffed with the media and is apparently suing some newspapers, among them the Sunday Times because, claims his lawyer, they called the premier "a gangster", reports IOL, which also reports that the new Nando's ad has passed the ASA's "taste test".

    For more:

    • IOL : Treasury 'playing hardball' with SABC... And the show goes on... Of course, SABC spokesman Kaizer Kganyago has denied that Treasury won't hand over the remaining R473 million. So that's all right then...
    • IOL: Mabuza to sue media... Apparently he wants R10 million from the Sunday Times, but he's said to be targeting some other papers as well.
    • IOL: Nando ad gets thumbs up... Ruling on the Nando's "fathers of the nation" television ad, the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) said yesterday that no reasonable bloke would take an extra wife or two as a result of watching the ad. True - one wife's enough.
