The Audit Burea of Circulations (ABC) yesterday, Thursday, 9 November 2006, released the figures for the third quarter, July - September 2006 and, according to a statement issued to the press, "the new ABC reporting system has been well-received and is working well."
Of the 118 new titles registered with ABC this year, 85 are magazines.
The statement highlights that compared to the same period in 2005:
Daily and weekly newspapers remained static. Growth in weekend newspapers (3.0%), community newspapers (6.3%) and free newspapers (11.7%) was achieved. The healthy growth the latter is due to an increase of 14 titles to 127 in total.
All sectors of magazines have shown growth, compared to the same period in 2005. Free magazines are up 6.3%, customer magazines 8.0%, and consumer magazines have increased by 9.4% because of new titles. The healthiest growth of 11.2% has been achieved by the business-to-business sector, in which the categories of property have increased by 30%, retail by 24% and medical by 11%.
