Monthly DVD car mag coming soon

We've seen performance magazines and dozens of car performance websites which showcase customised machines. But if you find still pictures boring and the product of yesteryear, then count your lucky stars: Kustamyz, a monthly motoring DVD available to the South African market, is launching at Auto Africa 2006 this week.

In partnership with TV production company Jatone24, Kustamyz will showcase dragsters, supercars, new and classic cars and superbikes, interview local tuners, test drive their vehicles and show what hasn't seen before - all through movies consisting with high video and sound quality.

Research and a study undertaken by the staff of Kustamyz over the past year regarding DVD usage not only as a magazine, but also as a new form of entertainment, has revealed that, worldwide, numerous magazine titles are supplementing magazines with DVDs and VCDs. In South Africa, a handful of titles have followed suit, with great success.

Ten thousand copies of Kustamyz will initially be printed. Depending on the success of the opening weekend, another 5000 copies will be on standby for immediate release. Kustamyz issue 2 will be released as a combined December/January issue. Issue 3 onwards will be distributed through CNA stores, video hire outlets, CD and DVD stores and through the publisher's website, which is linked to Motoring.co.za and Iol.co.za.

The magazine will also be taking a marketing road trip, swinging by Johannesburg, Kimberly, Bloemfontein, Cape Town, Port Elizabeth, Grahamstown, Knysna, Plettenberg Bay, Jeffreys Baai, East London, Margate, Durban, Umhlanga, Pietermaritzburg and Pretoria, from 15 December 2006 up until 6 January 2007.

Kustamyz will be sold in a professionally designed DVD cover for R50.00
