Magazines take business onto the green

Coinciding with the annual MoneySkills CEO Championship, Golf Digest and Finweek joined forces to publish the forth annual Golf Business supplement. The exclusive golf event, which saw some of the country's top CEOs competing, took place at Fancourt Golf Estate in George on 14 September 2006.

The 72-page supplement profiles CEOs on top of their game. The main feature focuses on Fancourt Golf Estate owner, Hasso Plattner, one of the world's leading businessmen and the chairman of IT conglomerate SAP.

Plattner has developed Fancourt Golf Estate to a high level and all four courses are ranked in Golf Digest's top 100 courses in South Africa. The Fancourt Golf Estate includes Fancourt Links, ranked number three; Fancourt Montagu, ranked number six; Fancourt Outeniqua, which comes in at 16; and Bramble Hill at number 81.

Golf Business also investigates the changing profile of golf and the need for more public courses in South Africa. The National Golf Network explains how the handicap system works and a look at the University of Fort Hare investigates how that institution has managed to produce so many top CEOs and politicians, with graduates including Cyril Ramaphosa, Tokyo Sexwale and Gauteng Premier Mbhazima Shilowa.

Rikus Delport, editor of Finweek remarks, "Golf Business has established itself as one of Finweek's flagship annual supplements and we're particularly proud of this year's issue. As always, it was a pleasure collaborating with the Golf Digest team, exchanging pinstripes for plaid and getting to grips with some of the more light-hearted aspects of business."

Golf Business is on sale with the October 2006 issue of Golf Digest (R29.95) and the 5 October 2006 issue of Finweek (R12.95).
