Ethical approval given for bloodless surgery

The ethics committee of the South African Medical Association has granted approval for research into completely bloodless surgery.

The surgery is conducted through a hole no bigger than a pinprick and the patient is left with the same mark on the skin as if they had an injection even though under the skin they have had a surgical procedure. According to a spokesperson for The Migraine Research Institute of South Africa “There is no cut, no scar, no stitches, and no blood.”

Pioneered by Dr Elliot Shevel of The Headache Clinic this breakthrough technique is being used to neutralize the proteins in stubborn migraine trigger points with success. “We have a progressive medical culture in South Africa and this approval opens the door for us to take this bloodless research to the international community.”

“We have constructed a high-tech procedure room with a viewing window so that in certain instances where there is patient consent, we are able to allow researchers, specialists, and in some instances members of the press to watch this procedure as it happens.”
