All wrapped up about Infopac

Nick Olivier the General Manager of Infopac Gauteng tells more about this exciting new venture.

Infopac is an innovative new way of bringing marketing and promotional material to consumers. Nick explains: "Infopac is an inserting methodology whereby advertising material is collated and wrapped in plastic. It is flexible and can combine magazines, newspapers, advertising material and even CD's, to be delivered from door to door. The minimum size of the items in the Infopac is A5 and the maximum is a newspaper tabloid, so the largest pamphlet will dictate the final size. It is wrapped in 30 micron plastic, which is transparent, of good quality and can be branded."

"The Infopac methodology has been tried and tested in Europe - in fact, market research indicated that 70% of the European market prefers this medium to loose pamphlets. It is weather proof and in South Africa we are bound to see numerous advantages, especially in the rural areas where distribution is historically messy due to a lack of infrastructure."

The benefits? This technology is cost-effective and can handle large volumes more effectively than traditional inserting into tabloid newspapers. In addition, consumers are considered as they receive only one neatly plastic wrapped package that contains all the advertising material.

Two of the three inserting lines are installed at Linbro Park in Gauteng, and the third inserting line is installed at Montague Gardens in the Western Cape.

Nick believes their biggest challenge will be to establish a South African market for Infopac. "That is why strategic alliances are so important. We are investigating ways to make full use of the synergies that exist between Media24 Ltd members."

Infopac's was launched successfully in November 2005. Nick concludes: "I foresee that, with Infopac, we will create new employment and marketing opportunities. We believe that the market is ready for a new and effective vehicle to bring advertising and promotional material into the homes of consumers nationally."

The Infopac Launch for November included a cash prize of R100 000.
