PlayStation scoops advertiser of the year

PlayStation has been honoured as Advertiser of the Year 2005 by the Cannes International Advertising Festival, paying tribute to the Sony product's creative and innovative advertising.

Ken Kutaragi, President & Group CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE), will be presented with the prestigious Advertiser of the Year Award at the Cannes International Advertising Festival.

The award recognises PlayStation's advertising since its introduction in 1994, as well as its impact on the worldwide entertainment industry. Since its launch PlayStation has won an astonishing 26 Cannes Lions, including three Grand Prix. The first Grand Prix was awarded to the press ad 'Nipples' in 1999, followed by the press ad 'Rebirth' in 2003, and last year 'Mountain' won the Film Grand Prix.

"When one brand wins so many Cannes honours, it's not a difficult process to select them for this prestigious award. We honour a client, who honours us with great creative executions over a number of years," said Terry Savage, CEO of the Festival.

Kutaragi says: "During the past 10 years we have continued to create inspiring advertisements that communicate to users the new experience and excitement of computer entertainment. I am pleased and honoured to accept this award, which is a great privilege to us all at Sony Computer Entertainment."

The 52nd International Advertising Festivals will be held from 19 to 25 June 2005 in Cannes, France. For more information on the Cannes Lions, log on to www.canneslions.com.
