kulula.com shakes Daily Star readers
This past weekend, the UK tabloid Daily Star was treated to a visit from Zumo, the white Zulu, an emissary from kulula.com who attempted to enlighten its editorial team as to the country's dangers other than earthquakes. This was complemented by the placement of a public service advertisement in the same 'news' paper, as a direct response to one of its reporters for inciting fear in the minds of its readers, who are soccer fans.
The advert warns of the potentially dehydrating effects of drinking cheep beer, severe sunburn, wild animals running amok in the city streets and South Africa's Daily Sun's favourite, the tokoloshe.
"We felt it was important to help out those who purchase this publication and fans travelling to South Africa for the 'you know what' to be adequately prepared because local sunburns hurt almost as much as being gored by a rampaging urban rhino," says Heidi Brauer, kulula's executive manager for marketing.
A local film crew was able to capture some photos of Zumo delivering his message to the people of England, which can be viewed at www.zumowarnings.co.za.
