    Gerhard Reinecke has been appointed a senior strategist at Yellowwood Future Architects. Reinecke hails from advertising (account management and strategic planning) and the research industry where he managed his own research agency. A move to Yellowwood has him doing what he is truly passionate about: strategic marketing and brand development. Yellowwood is a leading marketing strategy, brand development and design consultancy.

    Q: What is at the top of your to do list?
    A:
    Black coffee straight up first thing every day.

    Q: Why the move to Yellowwood?
    A:
    They are creative and passionate about strategic planning.

    Q: What is your strategic focus right now?
    A:
    Right now my every attempt at focus is subdued by a cacophony of motorcar horns here in Lagos Nigeria.

    Q: What is your main business challenge?
    A:
    To get brands to connect with consumers in an unexpected way, yet remain highly relevant in their daily lives.

    Q: Most important attribute needed to do your job?
    A:
    A balance of observation, insight and creativity.

    Q: The biggest trend to note in your industry?
    A:
    Creatives wearing black rimmed glasses, 19th century beards and retro comb over hairstyles.

    Q: How will you make an impact?
    A:
    By not conforming to the above-mentioned trend.

    Q: What inspires you?
    A:
    Anything I have not yet observed or experienced before that could provide a fresh insight or a different take on things. Originality.

    Q: What are you currently reading for work?
    A:
    A transcript of an interview with a highly passionate Sri Lankan tea guru.

    Q: Tell us something about yourself not generally known?
    A:
    When I wake up in the morning I look like Walter Matthau.

    Q: Do you have a passion project?
    A:
    Getting to know music artists and bands I have never heard before and then sharing the good ones.

    Q: At the top of my 'bucket list' is...
    A:
    To visit the legendary jazz clubs in Greenwich Village New York, The Village Vanguard and The Blue Note.
