English Club TV channel comes to Seychelles
Andrew Semchenko, CEO of the English Club TV Group, says: "About 150,000 people visit Seychelles every year and almost 70% of them have a basic knowledge of English. 15% of the formal work force is directly employed in tourism. So it's not a secret that tourism is the most important nongovernment sector of Seychelles' economy.
"Nowadays, the situation has made English the language of international communication around the world and we are very pleased to have signed the contract with Cable & Wireless. Together we are making English language teaching easily accessible for viewers from Seychelles."
"The importance of English in a country like Seychelles, where tourism is the main source of trade investment and revenue, cannot be underestimated. Speaking English is a tactic, a skill and a practical strategy with particular relevance to The African Continent and surrounding Islands," states Joanne Raphael Katz of Exceptional Marks.
Says Albert Duncan of Cable & Wireless Seychelles: "Although English is one of the National languages spoken, Cable & Wireless were quick to recognise the opportunity of having English Club TV exclusively on its platform to further enhance learning of the language."
