    Airtel scoops awards at Enugu Trade Fair

    Telecommunications services provider, Airtel Nigeria scooped three awards for its outstanding performance as the 23rd edition of the Enugu International Trade Fair which recently took place in the Enugu State, Nigeria.

    Airtel clinched the Best Participating Telecommunications Company award, the Fair's Telecommunications Partner of the Year, and the Most Colourful Special Day awards at the trade show which also had as its theme "Transforming the nation's economy through policy reforms and enhanced infrastructural facilities". The fair was organised by the Enugu state Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (ECCIMA).

    Airtel provides opportunities

    The mobile operator also received a thumbs up from the Enugu State Government for its contribution to the development of the economy of the state. The state commissioner for commerce and industry, Dr. Jude Akubiko said Airtel has provided opportunities for many people in the state to grow their business in addition to touching lives even outside telecommunications through Airtel's corporate social responsibility initiatives and various empowerment programmes.

    Akubiko expressed joy that Airtel brought a lot of colour to the fair, exciting visitors to the trade show with innovative and affordable products and services, including its latest 3.75G broadband service. The commissioner was represented by the permanent secretary in the ministry, Uwoezuoke Nwaebiem.

    Speaking on the awards, president of the Enugu Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, Dr. Theo Okonkwo, said Airtel has demonstrated that it is a caring and socially responsible brand through its array of products and services which are designed to meet the needs of the different segment of the society, creation of job opportunities and community intervention initiatives, adding that thousands of people were attracted to its pavilion because of the opportunity it offered them to learn the basics of wealth creation in the telecommunications business.

    Okonkwo explained that the support of Airtel has helped to drive home the objective of the fair which include the creation of seamless partnership between public and private sector as key to sustainable growth and the development of the national economy. He added that the 23rd edition of the Trade Fair has helped to focus attention in the furtherance the chamber's strategic initiative for encouraging a stronger and virile free enterprise and governance.

    Reacting to the awards, CEO and managing director of Airtel Nigeria, Rajan Swaroop said, the company remain committed to providing unrivalled telecommunication services and experience to Nigerians.
