Nigeria: Airtel has no plans to shutdown BlackBerry services

Following rumors that the Nigerian government had instructed telecom operators to shut down their Blackberry service in the country, the executive director and chief operating officer at Airtel Networks Limited, Deepak Srivastava, released a statement yesterday, 3 January 2012, to dispel the rumour.

Airtel Networks Limited wishes to inform all its esteemed customers that it has no plan to shut down its Blackberry Services.
Also, we have not received any instruction from any quarter to shut down our Blackberry Services. We will continue to offer service to all our customers.
