    Celtel introduces 0708 combination

Celtel Nigeria has introduced a new mobile access code 0708 into the industry, with a target of another 10 million subscribers.

The Head of Public Relations, Events and Sponsorship at Celtel Nigeria, Emeka Oparah said the introduction of the new combination is to complement the existing number access codes on the network, namely 0802 and 0808.

He also said that the acquisition of a new access code was an indication of strong subscriber preference for the company's brand and services.

"This addition to our numbering plan has been approved by the industry regulator, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC)," he declared.

Meanwhile, the Public Relations Manager at Celtel Nigeria, Emmanuel Otokhine explained that new access codes are allocated to operators when they exhaust their old numbering plan.

"It offers 10 million lines, which could be used for pre-paid and post-paid customer lines, special codes and emergency numbers, the new access code provides Celtel a fresh platform to provide millions of Nigerians more opportunity to get connected to the GSM network," he said.

He quoted Celtel's Chief Executive Officer, Bayo Ligali, as saying that the company has invested massively in its network roll-out, including coverage and capacity expansion over the past one year in order to meet the ever increasing needs of its clients.

Ligali reiterated the company's commitment to the improvement of its Quality of Service (QoS), saying that Celtel is rapidly deploying infrastructure aimed at "enhancing the robustness of the network and boosting its capacity to take on increasing customer activities."

He stressed that Celtel has also invested more funds in the expansion of its customer care infrastructure.

"Our call centres are now fully equipped with the most modern facilities and manned by highly motivated professionals for improved efficiency in customer service delivery," he said, further adding that Celtel is, more than ever, ready to meet the needs of a rapidly increasing client base.

"Even when faced with daunting infrastructure challenges of our market, we are increasing our service quality and experiencing the fastest subscriber growth in our history," he said.

The Subscriber Identification Module (SIM) cards, he said, of the new access code will be available in all Celtel sales channels including Celtel Shops, Strategic Distribution Partners, retailers, and Associate Distributors.

He explained that users of 0708 will have access to the same services as other users 0802 and 0808 including voicemail, call me back, credit me, Me2U airtime transfer, Celtel for life or dynamic validity, and conference call, among others.

"The 0708 number series SIM cards will cost the same as the existing numbers, the 0802 or 0808 SIM cards," he concluded.
