    African Women Economic Summit takes place in Nigeria

    In partnership with the African Development Bank (AfDB), New Faces New Voices (NFNV) is hosting its second African Women Economic Summit (AWES) from 12-14 July 2012 in Lagos, Nigeria. African government, regulators, research and academic institutions, non-governmental organisation, big business and civil society will come together to discuss topics around the development of women in finance.

    A cross section of senior industry practitioners have confirmed their attendance. Speakers at the conference include: Dr. Donald Kaberuka, president of the African Development Bank; Gra?a Machel, founder of New Faces New Voices; Evelyn Oputu, managing director of Bank of Industry, Nigeria; Nomsa Daniels, executive director at New Faces New Voices; Dr Nambura Koigi, managing director at Post Office Savings Bank, Kenya; Audrey Mothupi, director: Inclusive Banking, Standard Bank South Africa; Ginette Yoman, manager: Gender Division, African Development Bank and Toyin Adeniji, head: Women in Business Program, IFC.

    The keynote address will be delivered by the Minister of Finance, Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.

    Panels focussed on understanding what regulators and business in Africa are doing to promote women will be hosted. Confirmed panellists
    include:

    Increasing Women's Access to Finance: Dr Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria; HE Charles Konan Banny, former governor of the Central Bank of West African States; Professor Njuguna Ndung'u, governor of the Central Bank of Kenya.

    CEO Roundtable: Nomkhita Nqweni, CE, ABSA Wealth, South Africa; Aigboje Aig-Imokhuede, GMD Access Bank, Nigeria; Alex Otti, GMD, Diamond Bank, Nigeria; Jean Kacou Diagou, CEO, Group NSIA and Mizinga Melu, MD, Standard Chartered Bank, Zambia.
