    Malawians celebrate two BBA representatives

Malawians were on cloud nine on Sunday night, 1 May 2011, when it was announced that for the first time two Malawians will represent the country in the sixth edition of Big Brother Africa. The representatives are Tendai Namate aka DJ Lomwe and Felicia Susan Ngoma, a Lilongwe-based purchaser.

Malawians gathered at Sunbird Capital Hotel on the night where the event was aired on big screens.

Titania Katenga Kaunda, Multichoice Malawi marketing manager for the Central and Northern regions, said viewers should expect another exciting Big Brother show.

"I am sure they watched the characters as we launched. And, being amplified, everything is going to be louder and fun but there will also be emotions and a lot of drama that people should expect," she said.

    Shocked crowd boos

Initially, M-Net announced that Malawi would be represented by DJ Lomwe. When the first Malawian was announced as Felicia Susan Ngoma, the shocked crowd started booing as they thought they were bluffed.

"M-Net and Big Brother plus Endermol - the production team - always come up with surprises with each and every show," she said.

"In this season six we believe that it was good to have a reveal strategy, that's why we went live on that day to ensure that people have the look and feel of some of the housemates," she added.

Former representative for Malawi in BBA house Hazel Warren, who also attended the ceremony, told Bizcommunity that she thinks this season's big brother show will be exciting: "I think it will be a very interesting season looking at the housemates that we have; I must say 'thank you', because this time we have two Malawian housemates unlike in the past seasons where we had only one in cases where other countries had more than one representative," she said.
