Design Indaba’s heroes and...![]() Design Indaba has ended and it's all over, bar the tweeting [which you may view on our twitterfall]. In the main, the presentations were highly informative and extremely well-received, beginning on a high note when first speaker Michael Bierut took a different tack, and ending on the third day with a medical emergency, a mass walkout and three standing ovations. If you've not heard about Martha Stewart less than glittering presentation, which had delegates voting with their feet and clustered around our twitterfall in the auditorium foyer, read all about it on our Design Indaba special section - and especially what our writer Herman Manson and bloggers Terry Levin and Louise Marsland had to say. Now, still talking of digital... last week the King James Group joined the conversation with the launch of +one; this week, Waggener Edstrom Worldwide opens its first office in Africa in Johannesburg, under the direction of Marcus Sorour (and announced it's won the Microsoft West, East, Central Africa and Indian Ocean Islands account); and the International Marketing Council (IMC) of South Africa teams up with the Chief Marketing Officers (CMO) Council to launch a global online ad competition to crowdsource the promotion of Brand South Africa ahead of the 2010 FIFA World Cup... [Can you say spec work? Other readers certainly do.] And just when is the Creative Circle going to introduce a digital category to its monthly awards? Hang on to your horses! Looks like March is going to be a wild ride! Simone Puterman & Rod Baker PS In this week's Ornico Ad Showcase, we feature TV ads for McDonald's, Sanlam, Sasol, DStv and Landrover, and radio ads for AA, Mango, Toblerone, Medal Paint and Toyota Hilux. Please send all marketing and media news to marketingnews@bizcommunity.com and opinion pieces to contributors@bizcommunity.com.
