The issue of freedom of expression and protection of sources can be sticky - depending on which side of the fence you happen to be. In the case of the two eNews journalists subpoenaed to appear in court in a bid to force them to reveal the identities of the alleged criminals in the interview broadcast on Friday 15 January, the issue is clear - they have to honour their commitment to not reveal the subjects' details. The police, however, are adamant that they want those details. The latest news has it that the case has been postponed indefinitely, pending the outcome of mediation efforts.
So where is the line? Is there a line? Can there be a case in which public safety has to take precedence? In today's bizcommunity.com, Issa Sikiti da Silva
examines the issues surrounding the case.
