Sad! - Goodbye Citi - farewell campaign for iconic brand
Its always sad when an era comes to an end and like the article says most South Africans will have their own story of their 'citi' experience! We live in such a dynamic world that sometimes the little gems from years gone by remind us of the 'good old days'! Maybe Citi will be liuke ghost pops and make a revival!Posted on 5 Nov 2009 23:50

FIFA's CALL - 2010 billboard fury
This is supposed to be the crowning moment for South Africa and Africa - to host the greatest event in the World. FIFA has ambush rulings understandably - but who is monitoring FIFA ?Ambushing our country and advertising sites in ways that a lil ol' lollipop could never do !
And they will not provide key information - the FIFA and it's related Sonsorship is a Dictatorship - LADOOMA to any entity who wants a presence without their consent. The Beautiful Game of Greed.Posted on 5 Nov 2009 21:23

toothy dogs recycled - Buddy - Toyota's new TV star - takes to small screen again
Toyota has an obsession with DOGS. First the original Hilux Dawg commercial way back when Wagter got the better of big trucks but not the Hilux ! and then of course the talking Dalmation Tazz dog.... " in your dreams"....
Two ideas merged together and recycled. Is this leveraging a lovingly remembered campaign or is this a thinly veiled attempt to recycle old ideas ? Get a Free dawg with every Toyota purchase and you need to produce a dawg license to own a Toyota - so BUTCH ! That's if you see any reason to purchase a Toyota.Posted on 5 Nov 2009 21:04
KAKAPA - New Motsweding FM lineup released
The only one left is MANZANA, to complete a journey back to the basics. It does not help complaining! Sigongile said, this is what the listeners wanted!

For me Cebo is ok doing the breakfast! But still he should be reminded that no one is beyond reproach, he better ask Manzana!
Since Motsweding is going back to the basic, why not return Minah Pilane! Anyway I have nothing agaist Lindiwe, safe for her arrogance. Ke kopa o sa felela bareetsi pelo mma. Mare Bareetsi ba bangwe le bone baa tena man.
Benny Motaung! He's ok.....O na le botho sham!

Douglas le KB! Sibongile have you forgotten that (since you are saying you are going back to the basics) a 3 to 6 slot is a youth slot (Oh! At least it used to be). Yes Dmos was once an afternoon drive material but age has caught up with him, KB is better now, but he has never been an afternoon drive material. No offence, these two are going to work hard but I am afraid the desired numbers wont be reached. As a result I suspect that this is an interim measure.

As for other slots you can put who ever you desire, you can even give BEN MAITSAPO mamepe a metshameko! This is exactly what is happening @ motsweding, managers just do what they want! (Excuss the Pun). As for LEBO, LEKGETHO, TLHAPANE, MEDUPE, guys I admire your courage, deep down you know the naked honest truth, but still, you still have it in you to come and switch on that microphone! SURE COMRADES LE SEBETE MAN! It pays the bills, I dont blame you, I would do it as well. FREE ADVICE: START LOOKING FOR AN ALTERNATIVE JOBS BECAUSE YOUR RADIO DAYS I STRONGLY BELIEVE THEY ARE NUMBERED. I HOPE I AM WRONG THOUGH. AS 4 LESEGO, atleast you can make a super producer....i think you have proven yourself, THAT IS EXACTLY WERE YOU SHOULD FOCUS.Posted on 5 Nov 2009 19:45
Are you mad? - New international marketing logo for South Africa
Where are the rules of not tampering with your brand icon - e.g. the flag? What evidence was there the old one needed replacing? Admit to being sample of one but the OLD ONE WAS MUCH BETTER - easier to understand and more friendly.Posted on 5 Nov 2009 18:59

Congratulations Zebra & Giraffe - Zebra & Giraffe back The Killers
I love Greg's enthusiasm to play with the Killers. It's like Brandon when he sang with Bruce, Bono, and Neal. You can see how 'aww-struck' he gets and it intensifies his performance. I (3 the Killers. I wish I were there.Posted on 5 Nov 2009 18:46

Speechless... - New international marketing logo for South Africa
Powerpoint? Windows paint? Client-designed?

Only one thing could've made this any more awesome... comic sans - or maybe even some Powerpoint word art to give an ultra realistic effect of the whole thing blowing in a steady South-Easter.
Set, of course, against the immortal image of Table Mountain... at 50% opacity.

Woh, the possibilities that uncle Gates bestow upon mere mortals...Posted on 5 Nov 2009 17:39

Township website - Advice for township community website [Forum]
All the advice given here is relevant. If you are going for advertising, you have to be sure to do your research well and make sure you will target the right advertisers. It's a shame but small businesses who are likely to be your market do not have money for advertising and big businesses simply do not advertise to townships (I personally think they are wrong in taking that stance). Look at this website www.sowetoguide.co.za which is a very good concept but does not seem to have taken off (it's been online for a few years now). All the best with your venture.Posted on 5 Nov 2009 17:03

Good riddance - Goodbye Citi - farewell campaign for iconic brand
Yes, people have fond memories of the Golf but it really was time to let go. Face it, the thing was basically a casket on wheels that cost about 90K brand new. Instead of putting in airbags/ABS/EBS or any other safety feature, the only thing VW did was to put in a MP3 player - you could listen to your favourite illegally downloaded track while driving like a loon (for some reason, all VW Chico/Velociti/etc. drivers seem to drive under the delusion that they're in a high performance vehicle with adequate safety features). VW pulled off one of the biggest cons in the automotive industry. SA was actually the only remaining country in the world still manufacturing these things. But the VW Golf has long ceased being a student/entry-level vehicle (90K for a Chico/Velociti is not "entry level").Posted on 5 Nov 2009 16:17

Selfish municipality - Durban City Branding [Forum]
I would have to agree with you...
unfortunately the Municipality seem more interested in projects that dont bring much value to the majority. Whatsup with this new harbour project? a playground for rich boat owners? Durban isnt Monte Carlo thats for sure....
I agree that we dont see our money being spent wisely on services etc, and a brand campaign is the last of our worries. The city needs to provide for its people on a basic level, and this im afraid will not be solved by branding.Posted on 5 Nov 2009 15:58
