"Izulu Lami" (My Secret Sky), a feature film directed by South Africa's Madoda Ncayiyana, received the ‘Dikalo Best Feature Film' prize at the International Pan African Film Festival, held in Cannes in April 2009. 
The SAE Institute is calling for African candidates for the African Animation Scholarship programme. SAE Cape Town is offering 10 scholarships for sub-Saharan African students and five South African students. 
Encounters has named the African Trailblazer for this years International Trailblazer Awards to be held at MIPDOC 2009, running from 28 - 29 March at the Hotel Intercontinental Carlton in Cannes, ahead of MIPTV. This year the African Trailblazer, Craig Matthew is one among seven international filmmakers representing Europe, the Middle East, North America, Australia, Korea and Japan. 
LINDON, UTAH: Open Air Cinema has announced a humanitarian effort that includes a subsidised program to provide non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and small business owners in Africa with its inflatable movie screens to show films in an outdoor environment.
