Standard Bank has signed an eight-year deal with the Confederation of African Football (CAF). In the new commercial agreement with CAF, Standard Bank has secured sponsorship rights - as the official financial services sponsor - to a number of events and tournaments. 
The MTN Group this week announced its partnership with Africa - The Good News. Published by SA the Good News, Africa - The Good News is an online publication that aims to tell positive African stories from an African perspective. 
Founding sponsor of the Highway Africa conference, Telkom, will be renewing and increasing its sponsorship at the 2009 event, 5 - 8 September 2009, Grahamstown, Eastern Cape, South Africa. A new three-year sponsorship agreement will be formalised at the signing ceremony between Rhodes University and Telkom. 
Discovery Networks EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa), a division of Discovery Communications, has announced a new sponsorship agreement between Discovery Channel and Volvo Cars in South Africa. Volvo Car South Africa plans to sponsor Discovery Channel's motoring show, Fifth Gear, as well as the pop science series, Prototype This. 
Amarula announced on Thursday, 16 July 2009, that it plans to continue sponsorship for the third year in a row of the Channel O Music Video Awards which will be staged at Carnival City, Johannesburg, South Africa on 29 October 2009. The awards aims to identify both performers and copyright owners in Africa that have made a substantial contribution to African music.

The Getaway brand moves to the small screen this month when the TV series "Getaway to Africa" launches on M-Net on 29 January 2009. The 13-part series will look at travel in southern Africa, taking in the people and cultures of South Africa and its neighbouring countries as it explores the game parks, forests, deserts, mountain retreats and beaches of the region. 
The In Africa Foundation has pledged support for the twelve African teams that participated in the Melbourne 2008 Homeless World Cup in Federation Square, Melbourne. The partnership began with a US$250,000 contribution towards the African Teams travel fund that ensured their participation in the unique international football tournament.
