The morning chill did not keep the grade six and seven learners from Uitenhage and Mngcunube Primary Schools from sharing their views on the world and relationship with the environment. "It is all about teamwork; we must work together with the environment to protect it for the future," said Goodyear's risk control manager, Freddy Xoli.

Xoli told them more about the tree and it being prevalent in the Uitenhage area. Each learner received a goody bag, a spekboom tree and tips on how to take care of it. Indigenous, Photosynthesis and Eddie were some of the name ideas learners at Uitenhage Primary School had for their trees. Managers from the Goodyear factory grabbed spades and planted trees at both schools with learners eagerly watching for tips on how to plant their own trees.

Festivities ended with the Mngcunube Primary School grade six learners singing a song of thanks before rushing off to show friends their new trees.
